Picture this: five talented local country musicians, a weekend full of competitive hockey and not one, but two epic after-parties at the Duke Saloon!
Dust off your cowboy boots because March 15 and 16 will be a rowdy weekend when the Victoria Royals host Country Fest – a tradition built around hometown music and major junior hockey.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! This festival isn’t just for the adults; it’s a family-friendly affair. Bring the kids along and let them enjoy the miniature horse petting zoo, face painting and lively atmosphere. There’s something for everyone, making it the perfect outing for families, friends and music enthusiasts.
Here’s the best part – you can catch the entire weekend worth of festivities starting from just $20! That’s right; for the price of a couple of coffees, you can enjoy a weekend full of good music, competitive hockey and great company.
When the puck drops at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday night, it will be the seventh time this season the Royals have faced off against the Prince George Cougars, a team that currently holds the top spot in the Western Conference.
Looking to take home wins against a formidable rival, Joel Rinne, Victoria Royals’ Director of Marketing and Community Relations, says fans can expect a strong, tactical effort from the hometown team.
“We’re facing the B.C. Division winners so there’s going to be a lot of action on the ice,” Rinne says.
The Royals’ Country Fest also marks the beginning of the end of the 2023-24 regular season. On March 15, the Royals play the first of five final games of the season, all on home ice.
This means that there are only a few more chances to enjoy your hometown favourites before playoffs begin. Between now and then, fans can still look forward to Trades Night on March 9 and Fan Appreciation on March 22.
“We’re proud to host events like these because it gives the community a reason to come together not only because of hockey but also to enjoy great local artists. Weekends like these leave guests feeling proud to be living on Vancouver Island,” Rinne says.
