‘It’s just beautiful!’ Langley’s Aspire building welcomes first residents
Gloria and Daryl Taylor couldn’t be happier in their decision to leave condo life behind for their brand new Langley apartment.
Yes, there’s mortgage-free living, and a beautiful neighbourhood in Murrayville. But it’s the space and friendly community that stand out for the Taylors – the very first residents to move into Aspire, a 148-unit building designed for those age 55+ and conveniently located directly across from the Langley Memorial Hospital.
“It’s just beautiful – everything’s so new and bright – and the amenities are just wonderful,” Gloria says.
Choosing a spacious corner unit – 1,044 square feet in all – their two-bedroom, two-bathroom home is bright and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a wrap-around deck affording views of the mountains, a well-appointed kitchen with stainless appliances and quartz countertops, and in-suite laundry.
The building stands on land owned since 1985 by the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation, which fundraises for improvements for the local hospital and health-care. The Murrayville Rental Housing Limited Partnership was created in 2020 to develop the residence at arm’s length from the Foundation.
From the start, the aim was to create something of value for the community, and in particular, a thoughtfully built space where seniors would enjoy living. With that in mind, Aspire features one- and two-bedroom suites, some with dens, with high ceilings, open layouts, decks, comfortable, easy-care vinyl plank flooring and modern cabinetry. Portable AC units are also permitted.
Included are some accessible suites, and others that are adaptable, in addition to having 30 per cent of residences priced below market value as affordable housing. Cats and small dogs are also welcome.
One real highlight for the Taylors is having Allison Gaskell on-site as a resident building manager.
“She’s so friendly and helpful, they couldn’t have chosen a better person,” Gloria says, noting Allison’s husband even helped them put a few pieces of furniture together.
With more residents moving in, the Taylors look forward to getting to know their new neighbours in the building’s inviting common areas, including a meeting space with full kitchen, a theatre and games room, a rooftop barbecue patio and 24-hour fitness room. There’s also a fully furnished guest suite for when friends and family come to visit!
“I think that by the time Christmas arrives, we’ll be having a party with all the neighbours,” Gloria says with a laugh.
Safety has also been top of mind for the building, which includes secure entry and secure underground parking. Other welcome features include landscaped grounds, a nearby trail system and parks, and neighbourhood amenities including the WC Blair Rec Centre, Murrayville Library, shopping and dining.
Residents are moving in now, with occupancy continuing through November. To learn more, fill out the questionnaire here, or call Allison at
