In the heart of Uptown White Rock, a new Thrifty Foods store promises a burst of fresh grocery options.
Slated to open its doors on May 16, Thrifty Foods Miramar Village is a community cornerstone that brings a unique blend of local flavour and convenient shopping under one roof.
Christina Messinezis, the store manager at Thrifty Foods Miramar Village, is thrilled about the opportunities the new store will bring to the area.
“Our aim is to offer an unparalleled shopping experience with our array of in-store fresh food programs and our deep commitment to community engagement,” she explains. From fresh-cut fruits and vegetables to made-in-store sushi and a full-service cake counter, the store is equipped to cater to every customer’s needs.
A culinary delight
Thrifty Foods features a wide range of freshly prepared foods, including a juice bar, a dry-aged beef program and even a self-service olive bar.
“Whether it’s grabbing a smoothie on the go or picking up a custom-made cake for a special occasion, we have something for everyone,” Messinezis notes.
One of the store’s unique offerings is its close ties with local producers and community groups. Through initiatives like the Community Action Fund, Thrifty Foods actively supports local events and charities, such as the upcoming White Rock Pride Family Day.
“It’s about more than just selling groceries; it’s about building a community,” Messinezis reflects, highlighting a recent partnership with the Brella Society which supports older adults with lower incomes living in the area.
Discover the new location
Located in Miramar Village Plaza, the store is close to the iconic White Rock Pier and surrounded by local businesses, making it a perfect spot for residents and visitors to explore.
“We are nestled in a bustling area that’s quickly becoming a hub for the community. With the local farmers market and other amenities nearby, our store is truly at the heart of it all,” Messinezis says.
Accessibility is also a key feature of Thrifty Foods Miramar Village. The store is easily accessible via the Miramar Village parkade, which includes direct store access to ensure a hassle-free shopping experience.
“We’ve been receiving incredible feedback from future customers, and we can’t wait to open our doors,” Messinezis shares. The store opening will be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. May 16, followed by the doors opening at 9 a.m. The first 250 customers will receive a $25 gift card!
“We are eager to become a part of the tight-knit White Rock community and look forward to making a positive impact,” Messinezis says.
