Seniors Downsizing: Get the help you need and the support you want
Jay and Kristy Herrick of Herrick Real Estate Victoria.
Downsizing a home full of memories, furnishings and keepsakes and is an intimidating challenge.
What to keep, what to give away, what to throw out, and what to sell? Not to mention packing, moving and settling in somewhere new. The dreaded task of ‘retirement downsizing’ is often so overwhelming that seniors put it off for as long as possible, even if they themselves are ready to move on.
In the past, seniors could depend on their adult children stepping up to help sort out the family home and estate but often that’s not the case today. Many are unable to assist their parents to the degree that previous generations have, so seniors are instead turning to outside support to help them prepare for and take the next steps toward retirement.
“Many our clients are facing these transitional periods where they want to sell but are feeling overwhelmed because they don’t know where to begin. So we started looking for ways to help and that’s how we connected with Home Again Seniors Transition Services and Cristian Hoshizaki from RBC Wealth Management,” says Realtor, Jay Herrick, from Herrick Real Estate Victoria.
Together this dream team has found great success in helping meet the needs of seniors transitioning from a large family home to a more comfortable, manageable condo or retirement community.
In response to the growing demand for their unique, all inclusive moving program, they’ve arranged a free information session on Monday, Nov. 6 to discuss the services they provide individually and how they can work together symbiotically to make moving a seamless and stress-free experience.
“This information session is essentially a one-stop shop for all the details one might need when planning for retirement and/or downsizing and relocating. It’s also a great opportunity to ask questions and feel empowered to finally take those next steps,” Herrick says.
