Launched in 2020 as a book-series by Phalak Betab of Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS), the Stranger Story biography series has now evolved into a global video-podcast platform celebrating the spirit of humanity and the power of storytelling.
Stranger Story is a series of true & inspirational stories reunited in one place, where people share their successes and challenges. Betab,, is not only an accomplished author but also a Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Officer for PICS Society. PICS is the largest non-profit in Canada serving the south-asian community.

Her unique role allows her to blend her passion for storytelling with her professional role and amplify the voices of visionaries from all walks of life.
In a move aimed at amplifying voices and fostering community engagement, PICS Society and Stranger Story have officially solidified their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Represented by Phalak Betab, Founder of the initiative, PICS Society and Stranger Story have come together with the shared objective of synergizing their efforts to highlight stories of resilience, courage, and triumph from around the globe.
The collaboration holds significant promise, especially considering Stranger Story’s impressive reach of over 1 million videos on its YouTube channel. This partnership provides a unique opportunity for stakeholders of PICS Society—including clients, donors, board members, staff, and others—to share their inspirational stories and amplify their voices on a worldwide platform.
“I used to meet strangers and have long conversations with them, and then 2 of my books came out named ‘Stranger Story’ which features the extraordinary stories of ordinary people.” The books are available worldwide, and when I witnessed the amazing work that PICS does, I had to record such inspirational stories.” Betab shares.
The collaboration does not involve any monetary transaction. The online platform is now accepting entries for speakers, and sponsorship opportunities are open for individuals and businesses looking to support this impactful endeavor.
